A hearty and comforting pasta dish made with tender beef, a rich savory sauce, and perfectly cooked pasta for a satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) beef sirloin or beef chuck, diced

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, chopped (150 g)

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (14 oz / 400 g)

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) beef broth

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

  • 12 oz (340 g) pasta (penne, rigatoni, or fusilli)

  • 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan-style cheese

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or basil, chopped

Notes

  • Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve some pasta water and drain.

  • Brown beef in olive oil over medium-high heat. Remove and set aside.

  • Sauté onion until soft, add garlic and tomato paste, and cook briefly.

  • Add crushed tomatoes, beef broth, seasonings, and return beef to the pan. Simmer until tender.

  • Add pasta to the sauce and toss, adjusting consistency with pasta water if needed.

  • Finish with cheese and fresh herbs, then serve hot.
